This Tale is one from Jason’s college daze, at a small Midwestern, Christian, not-very-liberal arts school. The art is again by our stalwart Zlatan Marić, who has taken a break from his Baxter Street Home for Wayward Boys drawings, and a super-secret project that would likely send him to jail in some jurisdictions.
When I first scripted this Tale, I had a “rule” against stories longer than 10 pages, so I told it in two parts. The problem is that the second part didn’t really stand on its own, and I have a more important rule that each Tales needs to work on a basic story-telling level if it’s the reader’s first. By the time I was ready to have it drawn, I’d already broken that rule a few times, so I decided to do it as a single 20-page story… and once that lid was off, letting the scenes “breathe” a little more by going to 24 pages seemed like the right move.
