Jay might have been “the one”.

Not that there’s such as thing in real life as a soulmate, a person whom someone is fated to be with. But if there was… Jason’s probably would have been Jay. They had a relationship of several years in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and even moved in together as a couple. Although not without the usual sorts of conflicts, disagreements, and misunderstandings, they were a good match, complementing each other where each needed it, and challenging each other in important ways, while sharing a common set of values. Such as a belief in open relationships… which each of them rarely took advantage of, but always shared with the other. The sex was fucking awesome too, especially as Jay learned to let his freak flag fly.

Out of respect and as a measure for self-preservation, the loss of Jay is one of the few developments in this bio-graphic novel which will not be depicted directly.
